We the authors have spent many, many nights under canvas in the Highlands in all seasons. Some prefer static caravans, and large continental type of frame tents both can be very luxurious and comfortable.

Wild country camping - When the weather is fine this is a fabulous way to spend time in Scotland, either backpacking and carrying everything with you, or in a motor-home. Most motor homes tend to use camp sites but many still prefer to find a nice out of the way beauty spot and setup camp. Wild country camping is still possible in the Highlands, but we remind you to leave no trace behind, and follow the country code . This has to be the cheapest holiday possible but can be the most rewarding and enjoyable of all.
