'Fingal' is a large holiday barge that cruises Loch Ness and the Caledonian Canal in the Highlands of Scotland, providing a unique holiday experience amidst superb Highland scenery. With just twelve guests aboard we make a week's journey along the Great Glen, traversing the North of Scotland from coast to coast between Fort William, Loch Ness and Inverness.
The unhurried pace of our cruising holiday allows plenty of time to relax and enjoy the area as the barge spends just half of each day cruising. You have the option to stay on board and enjoy the fun of the waterway and the locks or you can make the journey under your own steam by walking, cycling, canoeing or sailing along the Great Glen Way. Once we are safely tied up or at anchor there are woodland and riverside walks, castles and places of interest to visit, mountains galore, towpaths and off beat tracks for cycling. For the more active there are a variety of watersport options. Quiet canal reaches, rivers, shallow bays or more challenging stretches of open water give us a variety of options each day. During each week we aim to offer all of the following activities: Walking, mountain biking, sailing, canoeing and windsurfing. On most weeks golf, pony trekking and water-skiing are also available from local providers at extra cost.
In the evening we all get back together over a fantastic freshly made meal, share stories of our adventures and make plans for the following day. Good food and good company go hand in hand on 'Fingal' and we pride ourselves on the quality of the cuisine. The meals are fantastic and all included. Brand new ensuite facilities are fitted in every twin berth cabin. Facilities include, a powerful hot shower, wash hand basin, superior quality toilet, opening window, reading lights, hanging lockers and shelving, carpet & curtains. Home comforts include under-floor heating, full electricity for hair dryers, shavers and chargers (provided by a very quiet generator from morning to evening). An effective drying room is there to deal with any wet gear you might bring aboard!
