More than 200 years ago, Bonnie Prince Charlie used Culloden House near Inverness as his battle headquarters prior to that fateful and final battle on Culloden Moor. Today, the Forbes family had succeeded in creating what has been described as "one of the most attractive small country houses of its period in Scotland". The new Culloden House is itself a fine Georgian mansion incorporating much of the original fortified house/castle within its structure. Culloden House stands in nearly 40 acres where guests are free to wander about the elegant lawns and parkland to enjoy the exceptional peace, tranquillity and majesty of the grounds. Perfect for a romantic break, wedding, conference or as a base for touring the Scottish Highlands.
Culloden House is rated STB and AA four stars and two Rosettes for food, is a member of 'Taste of Scotland' and has won numerous awards. Twenty-eight charming bedrooms each uniquely decorated in understated comfort - your private domain with room service just a call away. Many of our spacious rooms have delightful features such as crystal chandeliers and marble fireplaces. To the rear of the house stands our Garden Mansion House, a self contained house that has four additional double ensuite bedrooms and living area.
