Man v Horse – South Loch Ness, 13th April 2014
Following the great success of the inaugural ‘Man v Horse’ race in 2013, this unique event is back in 2014, bigger and better! The 26 km event takes place between the village of Whitebridge and Drummond Farm near Dores on South Loch Ness. To make it as equal as possible there are several hill climbs, including the wonderful Fair Haired Lad’s Pass, to challenge both runner and rider, totalling over 3000ft of ascent mostly with superb views of Loch Ness.
The winner will receive the superb Jacobite Warrior Perpetual Quaich. Small quaichs will be presented as keepsakes to the fastest woman runner and fastest man runner, and the fastest rider. All competitors received either medals (for the runners) or rosettes (for the riders). Tea and cakes are provided at the finish!
Have you got what it takes to beat a horse over this challenging 26 km course?
50% of all profits (including sponsorship) will be donated to the Alzheimer's this year as our chosen charity and the other 50% will stay with the South Loch Ness Access Group to keep on with their access work in the South Loch Ness area. The entry fee for both runners and riders is £10 at the time of placing the entry plus a minimum of £20 in sponsorship to be paid on the day of the event.
Next years date is Sunday 13 April 2014. Times are 11am-4pm, route is as this year, Whitebridge – Drummond Farm.
