AN ABERDEENSHIRE grandmother is getting ready for a testing Loch Ness challenge for charity.
Judi McLeod, 51, plans to circuit the loch in three to four days by cycling, walking, kayaking and swimming.
Mrs McLeod, of Glen Court, Stonehaven, wants to boost the funds of Chest Heart and Stroke Scotland and two north-east charities, Cash for Kids and Clan.
The grandmother-of-seven will start at Inverness Castle on August 30.
She will cycle and walk 40 miles of the Great Glen Way, swim across Loch Ness to Urquhart Bay, paddle 22 miles by kayak from Fort Augustus to Dores, face another swim and then cycle back to the castle.
Mrs McLeod, who works in Grampian Police’s HR department in Aberdeen, realises she faces a tough challenge.
She said: “I don’t like doing anything in a half-hearted way. I like nothing better than challenging myself. I’ve been training hard and hope I’ll be ready by the end of next month.”
Mrs McLeod said she had the backing of husband Alan, 60.
“He thinks I’m mad but he’s been very supportive,” she added.
Chest Heart and Stroke Scotland’s senior regional fundraiser, Paul Corrigan, said: “This is a brilliant and exciting personal challenge and I thank Judi most sincerely for undertaking it in aid of our charity.”
Mrs McLeod said she hoped to raise around £1,500 from her Mad Monster Challenge.
